Why Counseling?

Doing everything on your own is tough!  Counseling is a way to discuss and understand thoughts and feelings in a safe, positive environment.  My job as a counselor is to help people work through problems, achieve their goals, and to develop the best version of themselves.

The therapy relationship is powerful and unlike any other.  As you begin to feel safe and understood, therapy allows you to begin to feel less burdened.  Therapy is a chance to understand yourself better, understand your relationships better and to tell your story.

Counseling typically lasts for an hour once a week. Our initial meeting allows us to get to know each other, I ask about strengths, goals for therapy and what your presenting need is. After the initial counseling session we meet weekly or biweekly. Therapy tends to focus on what the client prefers to focus on while the therapist asks questions to promote insight, identify patterns and understand how experiences in early years influence behaviors as adults.
